Editorial Policy

Everything below is enforced before publication, not promised after it.

Originality

We write; we do not copy. Every report passes an automatic check that measures the longest run of words matching the source material verbatim, and anything over the limit is rewritten before it goes out. Proper nouns and official titles will always match — they have no synonym — but sentences are neither lifted nor reordered.

Attribution

A fact is attributed to the body that issued it: the ministry that announced it, the authority that recorded it, the organisation that warned of it. The agency that carried the story is not its source.

Timing

The date on a report here is the moment we published — not when the event happened and not when a wire moved it. When the event occurred is stated inside the text whenever it matters.

Uncertainty, in place

What we do not know is said where it belongs: "according to the ministry", "no response has been issued". A sentence inside the report, not a disclaimer bolted to the end of it.

Pictures

Archive images under open licences, showing the place or the context rather than the incident, and said so plainly under every one, with the photographer and the licence.

Bylines

Each section is signed by a standing editorial desk, not by a person's name. We claim no credentials, no field presence and no expertise for those names, and they are listed as what they are on the desks page.
